Future of Work in Virginia Initiative

In March 2019, Governor Northam launched the Virginia Future of Work taskforce to study the changing nature of employment arrangements and recommend strategies to better serve the Commonwealth’s gig workforce. The taskforce will develop practical, implementable policies and initiatives to support on-demand workers and their families. With support from the National Governors’ Association Center for Best Practices, Virginia is working closely with other states to understand the on-demand economy and its fiscal impact. Policy recommendations will be presented by August 2020.
